2012 definitely didn't come up short on changes and new beginnings! It's been one amazing year though and I am happy to say I'm in love with my life!
We found the perfect home right off post. It fits our family just perfect and has a very relaxed feeling to it. It didn't take long for it to feel just like home! It's near a fishing lake that the kids love to walk the dogs down to to feed the ducks and play on the park. We really love the area! The zoo and plenty of hiking trails are real close. I've already made a few great friends too! :)
Gage broke his forearm wrestling around with our neighbor just before we moved. He sure is a tough kid! They had to sedate him while they reset the bone before they cast it. We found out he is like his mom and only needs small doses of medicine to get the full effect. It took him a while to come to and they had to breath for him longer than the norm. Kinda scary when you are a parent sitting in the room watching the whole thing! He wore a full arm cast for a few weeks then got a below the elbow water proof cast to finish out the summer.
Kensey has to wear glasses now. We noticed her eye drifting so we made her an appointment to go when we took the boys in to see their new Dr. She's done really great with them! At first it took about a week to just get used to the uncomfort of the nose pads but now she prefers to wear them. I think she realizes they help her see better. She doesn't really mess with them like you'd think a 2-3 year old would either. And they are super cute!
It's already the end of the 2nd quarter for school. Man time sure flies on by!
Gage is in 2nd grade. I almost always get a good report back as far as his behavior goes. His resource teacher says he is her favorite because he's so well behaved. His attention is improving and he seems to be advancing and engaging himself in discussions more. Reading is getting easier for him so homework isn't such a chore. He does well with math and has a great interest in money ;) He's made lots of friends, participates in boy scouts once a week and is going to be starting a social activity class tomorrow morning. He's really just a great kid and we are lucky as parents to have a kid like him! He is getting to where he thinks of others more. If he earns candy at school he always makes sure he has enough to share with his brother. He told me one day out of the blue when I came to pick him up from school how pretty I was. Made my day! :) He really looks up to the men in his life and strives to mirror what they do. He's constantly bringing home letters he's written to thank someone for something. He's most thankful for video games, his favorite thing to do. He's always willing to help if his sisters need a boost. Moving has really given us the opportunity to get so much closer.
Jackson is now in Kindergarten. He has really just gone above and beyond any expectations we've had. He learned to write his name in the first 2 weeks. He's already reading and doing short addition and subtraction. We really love his teacher! His methods are just perfect for Jackson. His teacher has invited him to a reading class after school every week which has given him that much more push. He behaves well in class and almost always stays on task and works hard. He's always giving hugs to all his classmates. He most enjoys to draw and color. Any extra time he has at home that's what he's doing. He draws one friend pictures all the time (they have kind of a mail exchange going on). He has lots of friends he tells me are a funny guy. He's still the same old busy body full of personality we are used to though. He's definitely our firecracker! He is also very affectionate and won't hesitate to tell you he loves you. He wrote a letter at school today that explained how he loves to play his Godzilla and Mothra with his Gagey Boy. One thing that has been in a lot of conversation lately is babies. Jackson is the only on who says no way do I want one of those! ;)
MaryJane started pre-school with a program called head start. She goes to the same school the boys go to so it's extra convenient. She is really enjoying it and has started learning to write her name (she has the first 2 letters down). They do a lot of music and dancing, reading, and arts and crafts. she is always bringing home cut out hearts and paintings she made for us. She has made lots of friends. She isn't shy to tell you she loves you and hand out kisses. Her favorite things right now are dragging the dogs around on a leash, putting play makeup on, and painting her nails. She's definitely a girly girl. She got her ears pierced about 2 years ago. She ended up taking them out herself before they could heal up and no one noticed in time before they closed up. They seriously closed in hours! The fist time it was actually just one so her dad took her to get it re-pierced. Then she took out both of them and we decided to just let them be. They looked so dang cute on her beautiful face. She is now asking to get her ears pierced again nearly every day now for the past month. So earrings are in her near future. ;) She is really loving having a sister! Kensey and her are true siblings. I can't wait to see them together as adults. Having a sister for me has been one of the best blessings!
Kensey just turned 3 last month. She's really starting to come out of her shell and is as beautiful and sassy as ever. :) We were able to have her for 3 months when we first moved here. Our home and hearts aren't full without her here! We will be picking her up in about a month and bringing her back with us for about 2 months. She's always telling us how much she loves being with all of us. I think her being around the kids have really made her grow into an affectionate and playful little girl. She still gets nervous around unfamiliar situations but she is getting better and better adjusting with all the experiences we provide her. We miss her so much and can't wait to hear her laughs in this house again soon. She loves playing on my phone and the ipad. But her very favorite thing to do is just hang out and cuddle up on the couch. We finally taught her over Christmas how to give a proper kiss. She used to just press her mouth against yours but now she will pucker and make the kissy sound. She gets so excited cause we get so excited. She's one to not do something just because you told her to. She hates being put on the spot. So it took a while but we got her there!
Josh and I got married on Dec 22nd. <3 What seems like forever, over 1 and 1/2 years apart, long distance. We finally get to live as a normal family should. Well, a normal army family... Neither of us thought getting married would feel any different after being together for 2 years and living together the past 4 months. But it really does! I didn't think I could feel any closer to him. While on our honeymoon after an amazing wedding it just hit me. It really just closed some doors and opened others. One being I get to reap the benefits of being an army wife. That whole weekend just had a blissful feeling about it. We had a beautiful wedding thanks to our parents and my aunt and all who came. Then we had a 2 night stay at the Marriott and had a 4 hour snowmobiling tour at Thousand Peaks. It was one of the best times I've had in my life! Just amazing, all of it! All the kids are very excepting and excited about things being official too. I didn't think it would mean so much to them. :)
P.S. We're pregnant!!! :-D
Let's see who's paying attention ;)
